Our Impact

Backpack Buddies started in 2017 with volunteers packing food for children facing weekend hunger. They began by serving 10 students at one local elementary school, providing discreet bags of non-perishable food.

Since then, Backpack Buddies has expanded across Metro Atlanta, feeding thousands of students each weekend. After becoming a *501(c)(3) in 2022, the organization grew to serve 800 children weekly at 27 schools. By the end of the 2025-2026 school year, with help from volunteers and community partners, Backpack Buddies was feeding 2,600 children each weekend at 53 schools. In April 2025, they celebrated delivering their 1 Millionth Meal.

As we grow, we need more donors, volunteers, and partners to continue our mission.
